still kicking actually, Embarcadero maintains it. mostly you'll find it running old enterprise windows software nobody wants to rewrite. lost its cool factor once Java and C# took over in the 2000s.
a lot of banks and government systems still quietly run on Delphi apps from the 90s/2000s, nobody wants to touch them because rewriting is expensive and risky.
it was actually really ahead of its time for RAD (rapid application development), drag and drop UI building before that was normal anywhere else.
