we haven't actually sent humans back since Apollo 17 in 1972, over 50 years now. NASA's Artemis program is aiming to change that later this decade.

it was found by French soldiers in 1799, then handed over to the British after they defeated Napoleon's forces in Egypt. it's been on display in the British Museum since 1802, though Egypt has repeatedly asked for it back.

quantum cosmology models try to smooth this out with stuff like the "no-boundary proposal" from Hawking and Hartle, basically saying time itself gradually "fades in" rather than starting at a sharp point.
